Although the program is a pilot project for the area, the federal government has already put close to 16,000 unemployed people through the program. Marilyn Lacoste, program manager for LifeMark said Grande Prairie and area has high enough unemployment to justify the project. A pilot project to help people ages 55 to 64 rejoin the workforce in Grande Prairie and area was announced Thursday. In partnership with LifeMark Health Centre, a federal government-owned rehabilitation provider, the Grande Prairie iteration will also serve Beaverlodge, Hythe, Rycroft, and Spirit River. The Targeted Initiative For Older Workers is a provincially-funded project by Alberta Human Services as well by the Government of Canada, through its Economic Action Plan.
