How to shrink levis 501 and keep the shine?

Q: i have the deep indigo levis 501 jeans and i really do not want to lose its shine. i bought a 31 32 and i am normally a 29 30. can someone please help me shrink these. do i use cold water in the tub or hot? and how do i dry them, hang dry or lay it flat? thanks

A: Wash in hot water, dry in the dryer on hot -- they should shrink up an inch or so in the waist. The indigo dye will wash out a little, but it will wash out in cold water after 2 or so washes.

By "shine" do you mean the depth and darkness of the color? Or do your jeans have some kind of glittery effect? If it's glitter, only use cold water.

A: You could dry clean it, but that's a lot of work for some people. I just fold my jeans inside out and wash them in COLD water not HOT. Hot water will definely fase the colors away.
